→ Looking at Mejgan Afshan’s trajectory and values, there’s little question about where she stands in the fight for justice. A daughter of refugees who would go on to co-found and lead Borderlands for Equity, a pro bono, civil rights non-profit, Mejgan’s beliefs show up in the policies she champions. She believes in and advocates for tenant protections, bringing reform and accountability approaches to policing, directing resources towards wraparound & mental health services for the unhoused, and holding a quarterly equity forum open to the community. With such clear integrity, it’s no wonder that Mejgan has the support of the San Diego Labor Council, and the San Diego County Democratic Party.
