Giving Our Children the Opportunity to Succeed
- In Los Angeles, ACCE parents and students partnered with teachers to develop the school plan for the new Maya Angelou Community High School, and established a restorative justice discipline policy aimed at supporting at-risk students and reducing suspensions.
- In a new innovative organizing effort, ACCE is partnering with community college students, teachers, and union members to train and support students in organizing for immediate improvements on campus and statewide efforts to adequately fund higher education.
Improving Access to Health Care
- All families should have access to quality healthcare, but the sad reality is that California has one of the highest uninsured rates in the country. ACCE is working to make sure that communities know what healthcare services are available, receive help in accessing them, and are organized so that they’re protected from cuts. We continue to educate decision-makers about the urgent need for healthcare for undocumented immigrants.
Raising California Up, Community by Community
- While some issues are statewide, ACCE is also dedicated to overcoming the most pressing challenges that face historically marginalized neighborhoods, community by community. By developing leadership, increasing civic engagement, and empowering working families, local ACCE chapters are making a real impact. See our local office pages for more information!
