The Oakland City Council will be voting on on critical protections for tenants that include:

Prohibit rent increases and no-fault evictions if landlord is delinquent on taxes

Limit period of rent banking to 5 years and eliminate banked increases when properties sell

Double the amount of time tenants can file petition against a rent increase from 90 to 180 days

Provide notice/information to tenants of these changes
